Sustainability Secures the Future
Corporate Sustainability
The international community has recognized that in a world where everything is interconnected and growth limits have been reached, responsible action must be the guiding principle of any initiative. This applies equally to individuals, businesses, and governments.
Germany has defined clear goals for sustainable development within its Agenda 2030 and National Sustainability Strategy, taking into account international and European frameworks.
We, the employees of GUTMANN ALUMINIUM DRAHT GMBH, are committed to the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact and other regulations such as the Dodd-Frank Act, the Stockholm Convention, and the Paris Agreement (1.5-degree target).
The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact
- Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.
- Businesses should make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
- Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
- Businesses should uphold the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
- Businesses should uphold the effective abolition of child labour.
- Businesses should uphold the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
- Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
- Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
- Businesses should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
- Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
Many agreements on working conditions, human rights, and environmental protection stem from or are directly linked to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the 193 member states of the United Nations.

As a company that operates globally while maintaining strong local roots, GAD aims to create long-term value for all stakeholders through responsible action. Therefore, we view our commitment to sustainability as a valuable potential for society—regionally, nationally, and globally.
Integrating the SDGs into our corporate strategy is a key element. We actively contribute to the following UN sustainability goals through our actions:
Our Activities
GAD is part of the aluminum product supply chain. Given the specific characteristics of this sector, it is essential to consider the entire supply chain – both inside-out and outside-in perspectives.
Through a materiality analysis, we have identified the key focus areas for our sustainability strategy:
A central focus is on climate and environmental protection. This includes:
Our key focus areas are measuring and reducing the carbon footprint, avoiding environmental impacts, and using resources sustainably. We are aware of the carbon footprint of our raw materials, which varies significantly depending on the supplier.
Since the extraction of raw materials accounts for by far the largest share of CO₂ emissions, selecting the right supplier allows us to create added value for our customers by enabling the production of CO₂-reduced materials.

Our efforts align with the following SDGs: SDG 7(Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action):
The installation of a new photovoltaic system marks a significant step toward our goal of self-generated renewable energy.
This PV system was successfully completed on the roof of the GAD production facility between April and October 2021, with the expertise of Münch Elektrotechnik (Oberfranken), support from our shareholders, and financing by Sparkasse Mittelfranken-Süd.
Since early 2021, we have also been sourcing our remaining electricity CO2-neutrally from Stadtwerke Weißenburg, demonstrating our commitment to supporting local infrastructure.
Our philosophy: Those who demand CO2 neutrality in their energy supply must also contribute to the availability of CO2-neutral electricity. We achieve this by generating part of our own energy.
Key Facts About the PV System:
- Investment: Approx. €1.25 million
- Area: Approx. 15,000 m² (equivalent to 2 large football fields)
- Installed Modules: 5,080
- Total Capacity: 1,727.20 kWp (This capacity exceeds the company’s simultaneous power consumption, making GAD energy-autonomous during the day.)
- Commissioning / Grid Connection: October 2021
Our efforts align with the following SDG: SDG 7(Affordable and Clean Energy):
